Health care that restores and maintains the mechanical integrity of the spinal cord and its nerve roots. These vital nerve pathways are housed in and protected by the bones of the spine. Tiny misalignments of these bones, or vertebrae, which interfere with the function of the nerve pathways are called subluxations. They come from many causes and prevent various organs and glands from functioning properly. By means of a chiropractic adjustment, subluxations are corrected, thus restoring normal nerve function. The goal of the chiropractor is to correct vertebral subluxations for restoring the proper transmission of nerve energy over nerve pathways so that every part of the body may have a proper nerve supply at all times. This allows the innate healing ability of the body to work at maximum efficiency.
With proper nerve supply, health improves. In some, symptoms clear up quickly. In others, the process is slower, and in some, it is only partial or not at all. Truthfully, chiropractors never have and never will cure any disease. They only remove vertebral subluxations so that the body can function at its optimum. They remove nerve interference so that the body can heal itself. This is why chiropractic is considered a natural health care entity.
If chiropractic care were used to the best advantage, patients would be adjusted on a regular maintenance schedule. This would keep the nervous system functioning properly and people wouldn't have to get well – they would be well and more likely to stay well.
Subluxations of the spine in adults may lead to:
* Digestive Disturbances
Chiropractic is for Kids, too!
Even before their baby is born, conscientious parents-to-be will begin their training by reading about the care and feeding of children. They will carefully and lovingly prepare warm, soft clothing and a cozy nursery. When the baby enters the world, he will be completely examined for physical and mental defects and problems - or will he?
Rarely do child care books, and not but a handful of doctors, give attention to an extremely vital matter - the proper care of a baby's spine and nervous system. Yet it may be in infancy that such serious problems as subluxations, fixations, spinal curvatures and other structural distortions have their beginnings; it is in early childhood when they are most easily and effectively corrected, before the body has accommodated itself to such problems.
As the child grows older and more active, his body may receive more stress in a single day than most adults experience in a year! Bumps, jumps, twists, falls, etc., constantly subject his growing spine to the beginning of often serious (and just as often unnoticed) injury.
It is unsettling enough to think of the possible damage to the spine itself, but because the spine is the "housing" for the body's nervous system, the entire health of the child is at stake. There is a wide range of childhood ailments, due originally to "normal" childish mishaps.
Chiropractic deals with subluxations that can lead to:
* Ear Infections
* Skin rashes
